Performance and Playability
While I usually prefer faster bags, the Pro Snipers offer versatility in different conditions. The listed speed is 4/10, but in my experience, they play more like a 6/9.5. These bags excel when the boards slow down, giving me the control I need. These are another bag I will comfortably throw the slow side on. It moves well enough up the board to fit my style of play.
Popularity and Familiarity
Another plus is that these may be the most popular bags in my area. I see these all over the place. Every tournament or blind draw I have been to seems to have Pro Snipers everywhere. This at least keeps me familiar with them in the event I am paired up with someone random, because odds are, if you play in Western NC, you will be familiar with Pro Snipers.
Bag Design and Quality
The Lucky Pro Sniper is a bigger template bag. I like that. It makes it more hole-friendly and helps it land flatter on the board. These bags are forgiving and are easy to move. This is probably the most “hole-seeking” bag I have yet to throw. In complete honesty, at the time of this review, it’s my highest-scoring bag in my possession. The fast side will push through anything. It’s probably not a set you will roll or flop.
Experience with Different Sets
I’ve also seen sets that are way too floppy. Mine were both brand new when I received them, so I enjoy playing this bag more unbroken-in than the well-used ones I have seen at some tournaments that are a floppy mess. I honestly enjoyed throwing them more brand new than I do as they break-in more. I like a bag that retains some firmness in hand. Holding other people’s sets at events has shown me what these things can end up looking like. I held some Pro Snipers once that felt like they were going to melt between my fingers. Sure, that’s an elite level of hole-friendliness, but it would be a nightmare of beads shifting on my grip. Some people are okay with that. I’m not. I am just hoping my bags stay firmer longer.
Quality Issues in Lucky Pro Snipers 2023 Set
I have 2 sets currently. The 1st set that I received by accident 2024 is awesome. The seams are great. They are near the top when it comes to being my favorite bag to hold in hand. The 2023 set I got was not at the level of quality I expected. I hate to bash, but I need to be honest. The seams were off. One of the 4 bags was almost heart-shaped. The top of the bag (near the closing seam) was wider than the bottom of the bag. Three of the 4 bags seemed to be that way, though one was noticeably worse than the others. The same bag that was off the most even had crooked lettering. It’s like they sewed the pieces together skewed. In a cool move by their customer service team, they did send me a replacement bag for that one, but I can’t say the new set felt as great as my first. Both sets play similarly, but the new ones feel weird in my hand for what I am used to with a Pro Sniper. That messes with my head seeing them oddly shaped in my hand before flattening them to throw them.
Conclusion
I don’t know if I got a bad set or what. My Pro Snipers of 2024 version will stay in the bag for me to take to tournaments. The 2024 set is a top 5 easy, but the 2023 version, not so much. I love what this bag offers me, and I have no problem throwing it in competitions. The new set will be my practice set that I am almost embarrassed to own because the quality is lacking. However, Pro Snipers own my highest PPR scoring average, so that needs to be reflected in my rankings.
