Introduction
This is one of those reviews that you guys are probably wondering why it’s the last Titan cornhole bags (Swarm _ Venom _ and Tyrant) I’ve reviewed. In all honesty, it took me entirely too long to get to these, considering how long the Titan Devastators have been on the market. Earlier in my progression as a player as someone who initially favored faster bags, I was all about some fast bags. These fit that bill.
Material and Performance
These bags share similar materials with the OG All Slide, BG Dark Slides 2.0, and Kontraband Kutt Throat. Those bags, much like these Devastators, play between a 6-7 on the slow side and a 9 on the fast side. The slow side material is not the same but is very similar to that of a Viking fast side. It’s a soft material that feels good in your hand and moves up the board well in normal conditions. However, it does slow down quite a bit when it gets humid out, playing more like a 4 on the slow side and 6 on the fast side. This is fairly common for most non-carpet bags with softer materials.
Fast Side Material
The fast side is that of the Sure Fire fast. It’s arguably the most popular material in the cornhole world. It’s a great material that everyone should already be familiar with. Titan usually rates their speeds a tad slower than others. What they call an 8, I’ve seen some call a 9.5. Overall, I’d say 6.5/9.
Fullness and Fill
The bag has medium fullness; it’s not too thin and not too fat. The 21-22 set I threw was certainly more full than the 2024s, which were very thin and floppy. It has a disc fill that feels great in hand and is very forgiving. This is a hole runner’s bag.
User Experience
One of the best players I’ve ever seen (one of my throwing mentors) uses this bag. In all honesty, I’ve never figured out why. All he throws are direct airmail shots—no rolls, no flops, no blockers. It’s airmail, airmail, airmail. The dude has a PPR of 9+ all day. You’d think he’d throw a slower bag just so it would hold the board if he missed, but nope—he throws Devastators. So, that is just proof that if you like a bag, you can make it do anything. Frank Moudlin proves that by rolling game changers, which seems to defy physics.
Conclusion
In conclusion of Titan Devastators cornhole bags review, the Devastator is a good bag. I think I just demoed it at the wrong time. I’ve gravitated more toward a slower bag that I can block, collect, or throw airmails with. I’m a big fan of the Kutt Throat by Kontraband, which uses these same materials. It’s a more full, smaller template bag that just feels a little better in my hand than the thinner and floppier Devastator. Don’t get me wrong, I’d throw these all day if someone wanted to. It’s a good bag, just probably not a top 5 but top 10 for me right now.
